This is the story of dumped Innocents

Hello there,
today I want to tell you the story about Shania and her 5 siblings. In the last posting about Turkey's stray dogs and the animal shelter, I already mentioned some parts of it, e.g. that they were abandoned in a cardboard box in the forest without their mother and at the age of only 4 to 5 days.
In the evenig I arrived there they were little more than a week old, thus having their eyes still closed. That evening all of them were drinking pretty well and Pebbles( 3 months young, the light brown puppy in the pictures) was caring for them like a mother.
The next morning Angelika told me that already three of the puppies died during the night and in the mornings, two of them were at another animal shelter. The first one of ours to die, was the one on the picture at the top, on the far left. She was very weak and in the night she stopped breathing. Just a few hours later the second one didn't drink anymore and I already had a bad feeling. When it started to throw up everything there must have been left in this tiny puppy, I knew that he wouldn't make it. Nevertheless I tried my best and laid him under the infrared lamp, and covered him with a lot of sheets. Unfortunately approx. two hours later he was dead as well. You can't imagine the pain when you don' feel the heart or any breath and they don't move... It is so unfair, they were so innocent. The 3rd one died in the evening, the same way the others had died. But none of them was alone during their last minutes in life. Wer were always by their sides and at least they could take a little bit of love with them...
The last one was Shania, the puppy with the huuuge tummy. The moment her siblings were no longer there, she started to develop such a strong will to survive that she ate and ate and ate...sometimes even to a point where we thought she would be about to burst. She is the one with the eyes open in the photos. And Pebbles cares for "her baby" until now.
It was one of the best moments in my life, when Shania opened her eyes and looked at me.

And in the evenings, Pebbles was so exhausted and tired that she slept on my notebook....♥

This posting may not be "oh so glamorous", but they freaking deserve it. There is more to me than the wish to become a fashion designer and my work, but some people frequently forget about that...

xx
