The Lotus War

[JAMES JEAN]

Der 1979 in Taipei(Taiwan) geborene Künstler James Jean arbeitet momentan in L.A.

Born in 1979 in Taipei in Taiwan the artist James Jean temporarily works in L.A.
His current works are titled "The Lotus War". These works are again made very colourful and with a lot of passion for the detail. It may take the viewer some time to see and process all the details in every part of every single piece. Everytime you take a closer look on the same painting, you'll find another small detail you hadn't noticed before. Since 03/12/11 is one of the "The Lotus War"-pieces available as a silk scarf (36x36) in coloured and black and white.
He's definetely an artist worth following.
In almost every piece there is that one golden thread. James Jean seems to fancy dead animals(especially birds) and the bare women body. What one should mention, as "dead animals" without further explanation sounds gross, is that he keeps the animals fragility and beauty, especially the bird's ones.
I did mention his huge diversity before, but I don't only focus on "The Lotus War". I talk about all his pieces. He has such a wide spectrum of messages and ideas and techniques. Not all of his works are that colourful and full of contrasts. But one thing almost always remains: the overkill of detail in the picture. One has to take several looks at the pieces to notice all the little details and ideas.

In my opinion he totally is admirable and I personally don't only have fun looking at his work, but think he's very inspiring too. I really would like to have some of his pieces... Considering his immense diversity I'd even prefer him to Audrey Kawasaki and that means a lot!
I hope you check out his gallery on http://www.jamesjean.com/work/2011/The+Lotus+War/4 and tell me what you think about his work. I really would like to know!
